WRITING TIP: Copy your favorites

Open up to new approaches to writing by literally copying a piece of writing that you particularly like: type it up or write it out by hand, paying attention to each word as you put it down. The act of putting the words on the page gives you a kinesthetic experience of the writer’s use of language, beyond just appreciating it. After doing this, you might want to write a few sentences of your own while the experience of writing your favorite work is still fresh in your fingers.
