WRITING TIP: Remember what really matters

writing tipWe can spend days or even years doing things that don’t matter much to us, and the world’s demands can turn what used to enliven our souls into tired wooden platitudes rather than the juicy, life-filled delights that they really are. Try using story to reconnect to what matters to you. Close your eyes and think back to a story that once inspired you. It could be an anecdote someone told you, your favorite childhood book, a story from history or myth. Zero in on the place in that story that lit up your heart. Imagine that spot in as much detail as you can, taking hold of the threads of passion it begins to expose, and begin writing from that place whatever comes to mind.
